Submit your oldest piece of equipment here

Michigan’s businesses don’t just pay sales tax when they purchase a piece of equipment – they pay tax again and again on that piece of equipment every year they own it – the tax never goes away.

That’s why Michigan Citizens for Strong and Safe Communities launched an online contest to find the oldest business equipment still being taxed. Your submissions will help underscore what an unfair, burdensome tax this is for Michigan’s small businesses – and why it’s so important to vote “YES” on Proposal 1 this August 5.

Starting June 20, one business will be selected weekly at random among those submitting stories to two tickets to any event, workshop or seminar hosted by the Michigan Manufacturers Association and a free one-year membership to the Small Business Association of Michigan. From July 10-16 website visitors can vote for their favorite piece of taxed business equipment from the previously selected winners. The overall winner will be announced July 16.
